animal experiences

Wild Discovery has lots of experiences to suit all interests in the animal world.

If you want to experience a truly unique and personal experience where you can have the opportunity to get up close to some of our animals, then Wild Discovery's Animal Experiences are for you.  

Choose from Animal Encounters which are short and specific encounters learning about enrichment and why it is so important, entering the enclosure and meeting your chosen animal up close.

Keeper for the Day experience is for those that really want to see what it is like to be a zoo keeper.  Join our team of keepers in all their daily duties including mucking out, feeding and training.

Work alongside a keeper, get your hands dirty & have fun!

 You will be working alongside a keeper, getting involved with all our daily tasks including cleaning out and replenishing the animals bedding. Food preparation, feeding and creating enrichment for selected animals. 

You will have special access to the keeper only areas and have the opportunitiy to interact with some of the animals.  You will recieve a certificate to take home and remember your experience, don't forget your camera.

Our Keeper for the Day experience is very hands on and interactive. 
It is recommended that you wear clothes you do not mind geting dirty or smelly!  Sturdy shoes are a must and long hair to be tied back. 
Dress for the british weather. 
Breaktime drinks and snacks are included, lunch is not provided.

Your own personal and truly unique experience.

Start your encounter by creating an enrichment item for your chosen animal and then delivering it to them and watching them enjoy what you have created. Don't forget your camera.

Each encounter is lasts about 30 minutes, included is an A4 certificate, fact sheet and zoo day pass.  

£25 per person
Maximum of 4 places available for each encounter.

Available - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday
Tortoise at 10.30am
Armadillo at 11am
Lemur at 1.30pm
Capybara at 2.30pm
Bat at 3.30pm

Booking is advised, although enquiries on the day can be taken.
Terms and Conditions​​

Age restritions apply - 5 yrs + for the tortoise, 6 yrs+ for the   armadillo
encounter, 8 yrs + for the lemur, bat and capybara encounters.

If the person completing the encounter is under 18 years they must have an accompanying adult with them who will need to pay normal admission.
 
The encounters are not suitable for pregnant women and wheelchair users, due to health and safety and we must be informed about any allergies or medical conditions prior to booking.

We recommend arriving 10 minutes before your start time for the health & safety briefing.

​​crocodile encounter
Would you like to feed our Philippine Crocodile?
During our new crocodile encounter you do just that with one of our experienced keepers.

The encounter lasts about 30 minutes, and includes a certificate, fact sheet and zoo day pass.  

£60 per person.
Maximum of 1 place available for the encounter.
50% of your encounter fee will be donated to the Mabawaya Foundation that we support to help save this critically endangered species.
Terms and Conditions

The encounter must be prebooked.
To do the crocodile encounter you must be 10 years or older.
If the person completing the encounter is under 18 years they must have an accompanying adult with them who will need to pay normal zoo admission.

The encounter is not suitable for pregnant women and wheelchair users, due to health and safety and we must be informed about any allergies or medical conditions prior to booking to ensure you can complete the encounter safely.
We recommend arriving 10 minutes before your start time for the health & safety briefing.
No open toed shoes and long hair must be tied back.
