 Our bespoke educational workshops are deisgned by our Education Team to compliment your in class, or at home learning by allowing the children to enjoy real life animal enounters.   You can choose to visit Wild Discovery with your class or group, or Wild Discovery can bring the zoo to you!

We truly believe that education should be fun.  By making our workshops interactive and bringing the subject to life it helps the children to remember what they are learning by creating an everlasting memory.  Topics include:
Life Cycles
Native wildlife
Pond dipping (seasonal)
Bug identification & bug hotels

Feeding the next generation of scientist's.

Conservation Warriors is perfect for children that are crazy about animals and have a thirst for knowledge about the animal kingdom.

Our one day workshop is delivered by our education team giving the children the chance to meet and greet several of our animals up close.

The children will learn about the different species here at the zoo, their adaption & survival techniques, dangers they face in the wild, how zoos are helping to save species and enjoy mini animal encounters!

The workshop is very interactive and educational, bringing the animal kingdom to life.

Suitable for 8 to 14 years old.

Supporting those that have a passion for the industry.

Wild Discovery offers full time, voluntary internships for a period of 6-12 months. 

The internships provide people that are seriously working towards a career in the zoo industry an opportunity to develop a range of valuable skills with a variety of species.  

Successful interns will be trained in a variety of skills including husbandry, record keeping, enclosure maintenance and design, nutrition, training and public education.

Objectives of Wild Discovery Internships:
·  To gain knowledge and understanding of the inner workings of a zoo.
·  To gain experience and knowledge of zoo animal husbandry and care. This includes preparing diets, maintaining enclosures, daily record keeping, creating environmental enrichment and animal health checks. 
·  To gain confidence when delivering educational talks and packages.
·  Gain skills which will support their future career within the zoo industry.

Required skills to apply for a Wild Discovery Internship:
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Currently working towards or hold an animal related qualification.
  • Previous experience within a zoo setting or with exotic animals. Small mammals would be desirable.
  • Candidates must be motivated, passionate, hard-working, have good time-management and keen to learn new skills.
  • Be physically fit and prepared to work in all outdoor conditions.
All positions are voluntary. Unfortunately, Wild Discovery cannot provide any financial support to applying candidates.

Interns operate on a rota basis, working 4 to 5 days out of 7 and must be prepared to work weekends and bank holidays.  If you are successful at interview you will be invited to a trial day.
