 Our bespoke educational workshops are deisgned by our Education Team to compliment your in class, or at home learning by allowing the children to enjoy real life animal enounters.   You can choose to visit Wild Discovery with your class or group, or Wild Discovery can bring the zoo to you!

We truly believe that education should be fun.  By making our workshops interactive and bringing the subject to life it helps the children to remember what they are learning by creating an everlasting memory.  Topics include:
Life Cycles
Native wildlife
Pond dipping (seasonal)
Bug identification & bug hotels

Prices start at £4 per child.  Minimum of 20 children.

​​kids zoo club

Feeding the next generation of scientist's.

Wild Discovery's Kid's Zoo Club is perfect for children that are crazy about animals and have a thirst for knowledge about the animal kingdom.

Our six week Zoo Club is delivered by our education team giving the children the chance to meet and greet several of our animals up close.

Each week will focus on a different group of animals including inverts, birds, reptiles, amphibians and mammals. Topics may include; anatomy, who is related to who, evolution, key differences between animal groups, defence and predation and lots more.

The sessions will be very interactive and educational, bringing the animal kingdom to life.

The Kids Zoo Club will be running on these dates from 10.30am - 12.30pm:
Sunday 12th May
Sunday 19th May
Sunday 2nd June
Sunday 9th June
Sunday 16th June
Sunday 23rd June

Suitable for 8 to 14 years old.

£20 per week, per child, or £100 if you book for all 6 weeks.

​​internship & research students

Supporting those that have a passion for the industry.

Wild Discovery currently has vacancies for full time, voluntary internships, for a period of 6-12 months. 

This opportunity will provide the successful candidates valuable experience in a developing zoo environment, working with a range of species. 

Candidates will be trained in a variety of skills including husbandry, record keeping, enclosure maintenance and design, nutrition, training and public education.

Objectives of the placement
·  To gain knowledge and understanding of the inner workings of a zoo.
·  To gain experience and knowledge of zoo animal husbandry and care. This includes preparing diets, maintaining enclosures, daily record keeping, creating environmental enrichment and animal health checks. 
·  To gain confidence when delivering educational talks and packages.
·  Gain skills which will support their future career within the zoo industry.

Required skills
·  Currently working towards or hold an animal related qualification.
·  Previous experience within a zoo setting or with exotic animals. Small mammals would be desirable.
·  Candidates must be motivated, passionate, hard-working, have good time-management and keen to learn new skills.
·  Be physically fit and prepared to work in all outdoor conditions.
All positions are voluntary. Unfortunately, Wild Discovery cannot provide any financial support to applying candidates.
Interns operate on a rota basis, working 4 or 5 days out of 7. Candidates must be prepared to work weekends and bank holidays.
